Google pricing model. Please read this !
As you may not know, my app is mainly build around Google’s AppEngine. (For information, AppEngine is a cloud-based solution for server-side components) My app uses it to accelerate all network access and information gathering, by providing a proxy and cache mechanism. It also compresses all streams that are exchanged between your phone and the server. That way, I was able to greatly improve access times, even when a Wifi connection was not available. For more detailed informations, you may contact me, and I’ll be glad to explain the tips and tricks.
The fact is that Google has changed its pricing model (more details here). Until now, this “almost free” service cost me less than a dollar each month, so I could ignore it. I’ve done the maths, and got to the conclusion than in a near future, the same service will cost me much, much more ! (more than 1$ / day)
I’ve also checked the actual donations. During the last month of september, I got 2 donations, for a total amount of $1.98. Wow !
From now on, I really need your help. I cannot sell the app anymore on the market, because Blizzard forbade it (I respect this choice, it’s their right), so the only way I can afford the operating costs is via your donations.
I’m currently working on fixing the achievement and talent screens, among other things, but if this app costs me more than it is profitable, I will have no other choice than to discontinue the service. And don’t be fooled, if I shut down the server, the app will become useless.
If you have some ideas to make this app profitable, please don’t hesitate to share them with me.

Y not do this , every year hold a drawing for people that donate $3 a month for atleast 5 months and buy 1 or 2 blizzcon tickets and if u can get just even 10 people to participate then that’s $30 a month every month, and people would pay because tht would be cheeper than a blizzcon ticket and people are always trying to get tickets, and u could do maybe if somone contributed for a full year without missing a date then give then somthing like maybe a game card and extra chances to get the ticket, anyways if ur interested in my idea u can contact me at my email or 417-389-8820

If you can get this app to finally work on my huawei U8300 il be glad to pop you atleast a 10euro tip. My problem is that it just desnt let me chose a server, it allways stays blank. s i cant search or anything. thnks friend.

Hey there so I love this app and I did not know u paid to let us have it.. I give u my word if I had the money I would totally give a big donation but im barely able to pay for my wow subscription. when I get some cash though I will be making a donation. Thanks for taking time to do this for us some people may be rude but most of us appreciate it

One thing could be adding the talent tree, achievement, and profession pages back in. Maybe even view your game rating. Or the auction. House! I would definetly pay for it for those

I agree with above posters, hold a raffle for a pet or tickets. I just started using this app. I really like it. I know I would donate for that. It is sad that blizzard has shut down the sale of this app. It is s really good app. I enjoy showing my kids the latest item I just got.

Honestly I would say your best chance for making any profit is for you to charge for the app itself. Say .99 cents. Don’t offer incentives like blizzcon tickets because yes a bunch of people want to go….no they don’t want to be put in a third party “raffle” to do it. People are tightwads in general and will most likely see that as a way to scam people out of money… I.e. a fixed drawing if ya get me. Offer a 1-85 leveling guide/money makers guide, profession guide or even an auctionhouse updated similar to thottbot’s. Then charge people 3 bucks to get it… recurring every three months if need be. At that point you’ll know ifyou have a decent following or just your basic camera like myself. People don’t care about spending money if it’s not constantly thrown in their face. Make it a three month thing and three months later they’ll be like…oh ya duh…pocket change.

Deff need to get a talent tree veiwer and currently on my phone i cant veiw every peice and some peices are missing stats. I would pay for something that benefitted me more no doubt.

Hey man. Get the AH on the app and ppl woukd for sure pay for it. I myself would pay. Or you cam have people make a donation and when you do the app becomes available toore features such as the AH.

Um could you give more options for donations? Round them up our give an option were we choose the amount…and I would pay a small recurring fee for this app. I dunt use it everyday but I love that it’s right here when I need it!

To all those saying is pay for this or that feature, if this had happened 6 months ago, you’d have said the same about features that now exist.
I completely agree that there are a ton of cool features that could be added but we can’t ask the dev to add a ton of stuff before we donate – he’s already done a ton.
Fwiw I’ll donate €10 now.

I would suggest ads, this way people can pay “YOU” to remove the ads with a one time one use code. That coding shouldn’t be that difficult and you are not “selling” the app. Or have certain features locked I.e.: 3D model, gear upgrades available, and other special features….they pay the one time fee they get those features.
You dont have to sell the app just sell the extra features such as the 3D…i would pay as soon as it works again on my Droid X.

You r so right i like the thought because people wouldn’t mind because. They can save pocket change for a week and then 3 months later still has the money because they saved it ahead of time. Me personally they will bite on the idea of not paying every month and instead pay every 3 months. And I struggled through the same problem so I’m willing to pay 20 bucks to help you out every month if you can help me get some epic armor ;-p

Hey man. Great app. Only niggle i find ia viewing the 3D model is a bit slow, and sometimes it doesn’t load the textures properly. My phone is the Samsun Galaxy S2. If these were fixed, i’d gladly donate a fair amount.

Blizzard is very clear that charging for a third party wow app is not allowed, so charging for the app is a no no. The costs were already minimized by allowing ads, so allowing more ads decreases the functionality if he has to make screen room for a secondary ad banner.
You gave us an option when blizzard gave us the finger. Now that have finally realized android is not a passing fad, they locked you out in their effort to “support us.”
I don’t know what the answer is to keep the project I in the black, but for what it’s worth, you single-handedly pulled off what a multimillion dollar dev team couldn’t do, and delivered a better product. I think they should hire you!

Why not fix the issues the application has like the 3D. I still see loads of people having issues with it. Working out the bugs instead of add more content first might the logical idea.

Why cant u just use promoting spots? And so u now if u tell that blizzard owns the rights of all published picture and facts they cant put your app down. So u no fake email.
